Any person may offer himself for membership in this church.  Individuals are always welcome to attend Bannockburn Baptist Church without joining, but prinicples in the New Testament demonstrate that membership in a local church should be a priority in the life of a maturing believer.

"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.'"

Matthew 28:18-20

Why Join?

  1. The Preparation Principle:
Believers in Christ are to be prepared for works of service for the church as a whole.  Ephesians 4:11-13
  2. The Prevention Principle:
Believers in Christ are to demonstrate mutual accountability which can only be provided through mutual commitment.  This accountability helps protect members from exposure to false doctrine.
    II Timothy 3:1-5
  3. The Structure Principle:
Believers in Christ are to demonstrate order in their habits of worship and community.  Acts 14:23 and I Corinthians 14:40
  4. The Expectation Principle:
Community among believers is enhanced when the core values and church strategies are clearly understood.  Acts 6:5 and Hosea 4:6

Anyone and everyone who has made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior is welcome to offer himself for membership in Bannockburn Baptist Church.

How to Join
Church membership does not have any power to save you, but provides a loving support system to those who have trusted Christ.  Membership entails a simple three-step process:

  1. Expression of faith in Christ as personal Savior, trusting Christ to pay the penalty for sin and choosing to follow Him.  This is by far the most important decision anyone could make!
  2. Baptism by immersion in the local church.  For those who have been previously baptized by immersion, they may indicate that by promise of a letter of recommendation from another Baptist church of like faith, or state to the satisfaction of the church pastoral staff that there has been a prior profession of faith in Christ as personal Savior and that the candidate has been baptized by immersion.
  3. Completion of the Membership Orientation Class, a one-day introduction to the beliefs, structure, history, and vision of Bannockburn.  Classes are held at regular intervals throughout the year.
